TESA

Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA)

Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) is an efficient and reliable treatment for sperm retrieval. This procedure is often ideal for male patients struggling with infertility, zero sperm count, or difficulties ejaculating. Through TESA, New Life’s specialist urologists can retrieve your sperm to be used in programs such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

To achieve the best results, your doctor will decide whether the sperm aspiration procedure should be performed the morning of egg retrieval or one day prior. In some cases, the sperm may need this extra day for in vitro maturation for a higher chance of success.

Who Should Consider TESA?

Certain medical procedures, such as obstructive azoospermia or a vasectomy, can inhibit a male’s ability to reproduce. TESA is a reliable solution for these men who wish to have a child. It is also often a recommended procedure for men unable to have children on their own due to:

  • Infertility
  • Zero sperm count
  • Ejaculation difficulties

Efficient and Convenient

The experienced professionals at New Life have access to everything they need to perform the TESA procedure here in our office. The procedure itself is simple and efficient. If you and your doctor decide that TESA is right for your growing family, we will first ask you to complete an assessment, which will help gauge your eligibility for successful treatment by looking at how your hormones may be affecting your sperm. If you are eligible, then you can schedule an appointment with our doctor in our office for the TESA procedure.

TESA and Your Fertility Program

Couples struggling with male infertility may benefit from including TESA as part of their New Life fertility program. You can feel confident starting or growing your family with our team of skilled medical professionals and urologists here to help you every step of the way. If TESA is suggested as part of your program with us, our urologists will recover your sperm to be used in another fertility treatment, such as ICSI.

New Life’s High Success Rates

Performing the TESA procedure the morning of or one day prior to egg retrieval helps ensure that the fathers and couples including the treatment as part of their program have the best possible chance for a successful pregnancy. To date, we are proud that every TESA procedure performed in our office has resulted in a pregnancy.

Our high success rates are made possible by assessment of the father’s hormones, which guides the doctor’s decision as to whether TESA is an appropriate treatment. We want to help you achieve you and your family’s parenting dreams with the highest quality care and honest results, which is why we always discuss treatments and programs with you before making decisions and provide expert care with highly accomplished urologists.
